BYOD Program Development

An expedited path to secure enterprise mobility with personal devices
The adoption of smartphones and tablets by consumers creates great opportunities and risks for the companies where these consumers work. Socially, we have never been more connected or more responsive, both at work and in our personal lives, but as fast as someone can respond to an email, unprotected, proprietary information can move to someplace you would prefer it never went.
The pace of change in mobility and the consumerization of technology create a strong need for organizations and IT departments to take a new approach to ensure that potential benefits are realized and risks are mitigated. Vox Strat has established a methodology for creating customized Enterprise Mobility Programs (EMP). The EMP includes mobile strategy, mobile technology road map, a mobility business case framework and a method for monitoring and controlling the environment.
The Vox Strat BYOD Program Development engagement will provide your organization with a complete plan for the secure inclusion of personal devices in the enterprise.
Consultative Process
Our consulting team will gather technical, legal, administrative and financial information that needs to be considered to sufficiently document the current state as well as identify opportunities for enhancement. Through a series of facilitated workshops, our consultants will bring your stakeholder team through consideration of the specific issues related to BYOD programs to arrive at a policy and technology road map that aligns with the organization’s strategy, culture, and market environment.
The BYOD Program Development engagement focuses on considerations around:
- Mobile security
- Business case development
- Efficient process
- Support for diverse populations
Clear Direction
At the end of the process, your team will have a clear understanding of where you are today and a set of documents that layout a solid path that supports your larger strategy. The Transformation Design engagement results in four documents:
- A Mobile Device Management (MDM) Evaluation & Recommendation: Your requirements will be matched to three software product, a live test executed and the results presented with accompanying administrative and technical recommendations.
- User or Usage Segmentation: There are many ways to tier access, applications, and support across the organization. Our recommendation will be applied to your current organization, with mappings to all current users.
- Wireless Policy and Communication Plan: A set of personnel, security, asset, and technology policies will be created with the workflow, business rules and communications assets necessary to put it into action.
3 Kinds of BYOD
One More Screen
By far the most common initiating factor for BYOD programs is the addition of a new device to the mix – usually a tablet (which is usually an iPad). Once there are enough of them in the executive segment or sales force, it becomes obvious that there needs to be a programmatic approach to enabling, securing and managing the devices and the information they access and store.
Choice
Some organizations are responding to increasing numbers of individuals who are carrying their own smartphones and wishing (or demanding) that they be relieved of carrying two. It isn’t hard to envision the economic benefit to both parties if the costs of hardware and service are shared, but it isn’t that simple.
Savings
The costs of supporting a user carrying a smartphone are rising – both the hardware and the services. Many organizations are reconsidering which segments of users have a business case for carrying a subsidized device and offering a BYOD alternative to being removed from the network.
