Vox Green
While Vox Mobile is provider of services and doesn’t directly produce products, we do realize our collective ecological footprint has consequences. We launched Vox Green to ensure that every employee understands the impact of their decisions. We encourage every employee to seek out ways to reduce waste and energy use and to reduce the flow of material into landfills.
Everything from our standard recycling practices to how we can reduce our data center energy requirements through server virtualization. We also focus on electronic information generation as a preferred method with clients as we create volumes of reports monthly that are available for print but encouraged to view and archive electronically.
Reduce Waste
We are always looking for ways to decrease the amount of trash we create.
- Paper: We encourage all of our customers to accept and utilize our reports in electronic format. Sometimes, simple changes to the format of deliverables can make it easier to read and distribute the information in our reports. We work with our customers to reduce the need for the printing of documents.
- Plastic Water Bottles: We have installed filtered water coolers in our office and have distributed official Vox Mobile metal water bottles to reduce the use of plastic water bottles in the office and elsewhere.
- Mobile Devices: Vox Mobile makes every effort to repair or restore damaged devices so they can be placed back in service. When devices must be disposed of, Vox Mobile uses services like ReCellular to recycle devices and accessories, extract precious metals from the devices and safely dispose of the toxic components.
Reduce Energy Use
- All monitors and desktop computers are EnergyStar compliant
- Every opportunity to virtualize a server is utilized
- Ride sharing is encouraged
- Work-at-home opportunities are utilized.
- We make every attempt to replace on-site meetings, trainings and professional services engagements with web-based communications.
Recycle
- Paper: The small amount of paper that we do generate internally is shredded and used for packing material or recycled.
- Glass & Aluminum: Beverage containers are collected and recycled
- Devices: We leverage leading providers or cellular device recycling like ReCellular to document the end of life process for all client devices. With some device types we are able to leverage some of the parts of the end of life devices for others reducing the need for full device replacement.
We recognize that we have only begun to address all the changes we will need to make to address the environment state of the planet. Vox Mobile’s Game Changers program offers financial incentives for employees to find innovative ways to improve services, reduce costs, and reduce waste and energy use.
